How to Recover From Chlorine Discoloration to Your skin After Swimming
A lot of people might not be aware of the harmful damage taking a dip in the pool on a sunny afternoon might have on your skin. That's why its important to pay attention to your skin and body as a whole.
You should also protect your hair from chlorine damage as well.
On a sunny afternoon, I took a dip in the pool and splashed away, heaving a sigh of relieve as the cool clear blue chlorinated water came in contact with my skin. It was such a lovely feeling as I swam along in my tiny black shorts and bikini bra. After about thirty minute plus and satisfactory exhaustion, I came out of the pool, showered and changed.
While changing i discovered that the parts of my body exposed were darker than the covered parts. It was like I took a tan in the pool.
Here are first hand measures on how to recover from such discoloration
- Everyone's skin reacts to products differently. It took about one month plus for my discoloration to clear out. In that period, I changed the body lotion I was using prior to the swim because it was ineffective.
- Then I created a regeneration routine which included biweekly exfoliation processes with a trusted product, daily application of a new moisturizing lotion and sun protection.
- Before leaving for any outdoor activity I never forgot to put on my sunscreen 30 minutes prior to stepping out.
- I improved on my diet. Taking in more of fruits and veggies because it helps for the skin to heal from within as well.
- Then I made sure I did not take a swim until all discoloration cleared out.
I wont say I never took a dip in a pool again, but I made sure to take necessary precautions to avoid a repetition.
- Make sure not to swim in the hot of the afternoon
- Take a shower before stepping into the pool
- Put on your sun protection lotion before taking a dive and let it sit for about 30 minutes
- Come out of the pool after a while for reapplication of the sun protection if you want to swim longer.
- Take a shower immediately you step out of the pull. Don't give the chlorine a chance to damage your skin.
You should also protect your hair from chlorine damage as well.
